Benefits of CBD oil – Boost your health

Lifestyle

Do you believe in magic? Because if not, it’s because you haven’t tried a CBD oil. CBD (cannabidoil) has been studied more seriously over the past few years and has been proven to help with things like chronic pain and anxiety. Before you even wonder, yes, CBD is legal as it does not contain any THC (more on that later). I know first hand that CBD  can have amazing benefits for certain health concerns, so I wanted to share some of these benefits of CBD oil with you.

What is CBD oil?

Cannabidoil, or CBD, is a chemical compound derived from the cannabis, or marijuana, plant. THC is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in the plant, and is responsible for the “high” effects of marijuana. Unlike THC, CBD is not a psychoactive. This means it can give you the benefits of marijuana without the THC effects. And as I said, it is legal. CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant and then diluting it with a carrier oil like hemp seed oil.

For many years, medical marijuana has been used to treat chronic pain and even cancer. Think of the same heeling properties, just without the “high” effects. There are several different brands of CBD oil, that all come with different concentrations as well. It is important to do your research to find reputable sources, and pay attention to the dosages. Lucky for you, I have do a lot of the research for you.

Health benefits of CBD oil

The human body has a system (pathway) called the endocannabinoid system. This is a system of receptors found in the body/brain and are responsible for communicating and regulating all body functions. Meaning the CNS, organs, autoimmune system, GI tract, brain, hormones etc are all linked together by this “master regulatory system”. CBD interacts with receptors found in the brain that are controlled by this Endocannabinoid system. HOW it interacts is the reason it can be so beneficial for all of these health concerns…

Pain Relief

The human brain has a system called the endocannabinoid system, and is involved in regulating specific body functions like sleep, pain and immune system response. The body produces neurotransmitters in the brain called endocannabinoids that bind to cannabinoid receptors in the nervous system. CBD can impact this receptor activity and therefore alleviate pain.

In simple terms, our body produces a chemical substance that CBD can attach to. This then sends signals to the brain to stop pain.

Decrease Inflammation

Research study after research study has found CBD to help reduce inflammation in the body, and in big ways. Although after finding that it does in fact work, they still have not been able to pinpoint why it works. If you find yourself with achey joints, auto-immune disorders or other inflammatory symptoms (rash, intestinal upset), you might want to give CBD a try.

Promote Deep Sleep

CBD is a cannabinoid, as I stated earlier, that binds to receptors and promotes relaxation. This relaxation is not only going to calm you down, it is also going to allow you to get a great nights sleep. With the increase in relaxation comes falling asleep faster, staying asleep longer, and getting you into that REM sleep cycle for longer! Sleep is important for all body functions – balances hormones, speeds up muscle recovery, and obviously gets us through day to day life!

Reduce Anxiety

This actually seems to be the number one reason people are using CBD, myself included. As I stated earlier, the body has a system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS) that regulates specific body functions. Well, CBD actually reacts with the ECS and the CNS (central nervous system) to regulate specific neurotransmitters that deal with mood! CBD helps to boost serotonin, and regulate GABA and glutamine (excitatory transmitters). Both of which are suppressed in those who suffer from mental illness.

Diminish Cancer Symptoms

I am sure you have heard of cancer patients having medical marijuana cards, and for a very good reason! Research over the years has proven that THC can greatly decrease the effects of cancer and cancer treating drugs like chemo and radiation. Since CBD is derived from the same plant, with the same properties as THC (minus the psychoactive aspect) it too can help cancer patients with pain, nausea, and vomiting!

Quality and Dosage of CBD Oil

When looking into CBD oils, you want to be sure it is coming from a reputable source. Like I always say, you get what you pay for. If you are looking to spend $10, you are likely going to get a poor quality product. You want to make sure there are not a lot of “extra” ingredients, or fillers, in your product. It is best to find a product that is extracted from therapeutic hemp because it is less likely to have any contaminants.  The Realm of Caring is a great source that covers quality concerns!

There are also a few different kinds out there; CBD can be from hemp or from marijuana, both have the same amount of CBD, the difference is if THC is going to be present or not. There is also hemp oil ad CBD oil; hemp oil comes from the cold pressed seeds and CBD comes from the flower. Both seem to have the same properties, hemp being cheaper, but there is more research out there on CBD than on hemp.

Dosage really depends on the person. I recommend starting small and working your way up if you are not feeling any effects. You CANNOT overdose on CBD or cause internal harm to your body, so no worries there! You just want to make sure you are taking enough that you feel the effects, without too much – aka being extremely tired all the time.
