16 Low Calorie, Healthy Pizza Recipes

Yes, you read that right. I am going to share with you 27 healthy pizza recipes! Why? How? Because I eat pizza every Sunday. Which means every Sunday I try a new recipe and I have been saving  them all to share with you!

Some of these are going to be gluten free (cauliflower crust), some will be dairy free but all of them will be delicious! I know a lot of people love pizza, myself included, yet you can’t always eat it because it is very calorie dense, or because you cannot have gluten/dairy. Well, I wanted to make sure I didn’t have to worry about any of these things while eating pizza! So, I have brought you this amazing resource. YES, I have made and tried all of these, or some variation.

Healthy and delicious pizza is hard to come by, especially if you are going out to your local spot. If you are want to eat pizza, not feel guilty, skip the “carb coma” after and improve your cooking skills, then you need to try these recipes. Some of there are going to be more fun than others, and a few of them are going to see, pretty crazy. But, that is because I wanted to give you a wide variety. You have your traditional pizza toppings that make you feel all warm and fuzzy with old memories, and then you have your new and exciting pizza toppings that make you feel like you are at a 5 star restaurant eating flatbreads. It really is the best of both worlds, for everyone!

All of the crusts have been store bought from Trader Joe’s.  This does not mean you have to buy your crust from there, just find one in your local store that has clean ingredients, or you can try my homemade recipe! I just ask that whatever crust you use has whole ingredients! The fewer ingredients you put on your pizza, the easier it is to track your macros, if you’re into that sort of thing! Now let’s dive into these delicious, healthy pizza recipes so you can decide which one you are going to make this week!

Creative Vegan Gluten Free Pizza Recipes

(All recipes can be made with regular cows milk cheese and/or wheat crust)

Margherita Rendition Cauliflower Pizza

Ingredients:

· 1 cauliflower crust

· 1 roma tomato

· handful arugula

· handful of basil

· 2oz chicken breast

· 1/2tbsp balsimic vinegar

· 1tbsp tahini

· 1/2 cup shredded almond cheese

Instructions:

1- Cook crust according to directions

2- Cook chicken breast on stove top (over medium heat for 20 minutes – covered and flipping occasionally), once cooked, shred.

3- Finley chop arugula and basil, slice tomato. Mix tahini and balsamic vinegar together in a small bowl.

4- Place tomato on pizza first, then layer with arugula and basil. Add shredded chicken, drizzle with vinegar mixture and top with cheese.

5- Place under broiler until cheese melts, cut and serve!


Hawaiian Cauliflower Pizza

Ingredients:

· 1 cauliflower crust

· 1/2 cup pizza sauce (one with minimal ingredients, no sugar added)

· 2oz sliced ham, or Canadian bacon (look for no nitrates, and no sugar)

· 1/2 cup diced pineapple (if canned, no added sugar)

· 2 slices bacon

· 1 cup shredded cheese (I have found Trader Joes Vegan, and Daiya mozzarella to melt best for vegans)

Instructions:

1- Cook crust according to directions

2- Cook bacon on stove top or in oven (flipping halfway)

3- Once cooked; spread pizza sauce, layer your ham, add diced pineapple, crumble your bacon and top with cheese!

4- Place under broiler until cheese melts, cut and serve!

Veggie Delight Cauliflower Pizza

Ingredients:

· 1 cauliflower crust

· 1 roma tomato, sliced

· 1/4 cup chopped broccoli

· 1/4 cup sliced zucchini

· 1/4 cup mushrooms, sliced

· 1/4 cup diced artichoke hearts

· 2tbsp olive oil

· Salt/pepper/italian seasoning (oregano, thyme, rosemary, basil)

· 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions:

1- Cook crust according to directions

2- Sauté veggies (except tomato) in a pan over medium heat with 1tbsp olive oil

3- Once cooked; layer with tomato, add sautéed veggies, and shredded cheese.

4- Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning; place under broiler until cheese melts!


Meat lovers Cauliflower Pizza

Ingredients:

· 1 cauliflower crust

· 1/2 cup pizza sauce (check ingredients)

· 1oz pepperoni

· 1oz pork sausage

· 1oz deli ham

· 2 slices bacon

· 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions:

1- Cook crust according to directions

2- Cook sausage and bacon in a pan on the stove top over medium heat.

3- Once cooked; spread pizza sauce, layer 1/2 the cheese, add all the meats.

4- Place under broiler for 2 minutes – remove from oven and add the rest of the cheese! Cut and serve!

TexMex Cauliflower Pizza

Ingredients:

· 1 cauliflower crust

· 1/2 cup taco sauce (store bought or homemade)

· 4oz ground beef

· 1/4 cup corn

· 1/4 cup black beans

· 1/4 avocado

· handful shredded lettuce

· handful of tortilla chips

· 1 cup shredded cheese

· taco seasoning

Instructions:

1- Cook crust according to directions

2- Cook ground beef over medium heat with taco seasoning

3- Once cooked; spread taco sauce, layer with meat. Add corn, black beans, avocado (diced) and top with cheese.

4- Place under broiler for 2 minutes – remove from oven and add shredded lettuce and crushed tortilla chips- Cut and serve!


BBQ Chicken Cauliflower Pizza

Ingredients:

· 1 cauliflower crust

· 1/2 cup BBQ saucebbq chicken pizza

· 3oz chicken breast

· Handful of red onion , diced

· 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions:

1- Cook crust according to directions

2- Cook chicken breasts on stove top (over medium heat – then shred)

3- Once cooked; spread bbq sauce, top with chicken, onion and cover with cheese.

4- Place under broiler until cheese is melted, cut and serve!

Healthy Pizza Recipes – made with real cheese and/or wheat

Chicken Sausage, Goat Cheese and Pesto Cauliflower Pizza

Ingredients:

· 1 cauliflower crust

· 3 tbsp pestocauliflower pizza

· 1/2 red pepper, sliced

· 1/2 yellow pepper. sliced

· 1 garlic chicken sausage link

· handful of arugula

· 2 oz goat cheese

· salt/pepper

Instructions:

1- Cook crust according to directions

2- Dice chicken sausage and brown – sauté peppers in pan

3- Once cooked; spread pesto – top with sausage (sliced), peppers and arugula, Crumble goat cheese.

4- Place under broiler for a few minutes to warm through and cut – serve!

Grilled Chicken, Tahini & Avocado Flatbread

Ingredients:

· 1 whole wheat flat bread (I used just an organic pre-made frozen section crust)

· 1 cup spinach

· 3oz chicken breast

· 1/2 avocado

· 1tbsp tahini

· 1/2 tbsp olive oil

· Sea salt/pepper/paprika

· Green onion

Instructions:

1- Bake crust according to directions

2- Cook chicken breasts on grill (10 minutes on each side) or on the stove (pre-cut into strips – cook on medium heat for 20 minutes).

3- Once crust is ready, remove from oven and place on broil.

4- Drizzle crust with olive oil.

5- Top with spinach, chicken, diced avocado, and green onion. Drizzle with tahini (add water to make it a little thinner) and top with salt, pepper and paprika.

6- Place under broiler for 3-5 minutes to heat all toppings. Slice and enjoy!

Fig, Prosciutto and Goat Cheese Butternut Squash Pizza

Ingredients:

· 1 butternut squash crust (or cauliflower)

· 3 tbsp pesto

· 2oz prosciuttobutternut squash pizza

· 3 figs, sliced

· 3oz goat cheese

· handful of arugula

· 1tbsp honey

Instructions:

1- Cook crust according to directions

2- Once cooked; spread pesto – top with prosciutto (I cut mine in pieces), figs, arugula and crumble goat cheese.

3- Place under broiler for a few minutes to warm through; remove from oven and drizzle with honey. Cut and serve!

Cheeseburger Cauliflower Pizza

Ingredients:

· 1 cauliflower crust

· 1/4 cup mayo

· 4oz ground beef

· 1tbsp ketchup

· handful of hamburger pickles

· shredded lettuce

· 2tbsp onion, diced

· 1/4 cup diced tomato

· 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions:

1- Cook crust according to directions

2- Cook ground beef over medium heat until cooked through

3- Mix mayo and ketchup together for sauce

4- Once cooked; spread sauce, add ground beef – onion – tomato – pickles – cheese

5- Place under broiler for cheese to melt – top with shredded lettuce once removed from oven!

Breakfast Naan

Ingredients:

· 1 naan (I used a tomato and basil flavored bread)

· 1tbsp olive oil

· 2 eggs

· 1 garlic chicken sausage link

· 1/4 cup green pepper, diced

· 1/4 cup mushrooms, diced

· salt/pepper/oregano

· 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions:

1- Cook crust according to directions

2- Dice chicken sausage and brown in a pan with peppers and mushrooms

3- Scramble eggs (spray non-stick pan and cook eggs until done)

4- Once cooked; brush with olive oil, season with salt, pepper and oregano.

5- Layer eggs – sausage/peppers/mushrooms and top with cheese

6- Place under broiler for a few minutes to allow cheese to melt and flavors to mix!


FAQ

Is gluten free pizza healthier than regular pizza?

The answer here is not necessarily. Gluten free crusts can sometimes have added ingredients to try to match the flavor and texture of regular crust. Just read your ingredient labels to make sure it is all clean!

How many carbs are in gluten free pizza crust?

This is also going to differ from brand to brand. The average is about 20-30g. The low calorie, gluten free options come from cauliflower, butternut squash or zucchini crusts!

What does vegan pizza mean?

Vegan pizza just means there is no animal products (dairy) in the pizza. This means both the crust and the pizza toppings! So it is safe for those with dairy allergies.

What is the serving size of your pizza?

The whole thing. Yes, I eat an entire pizza! That is the beauty of crust made from vegetables. Just make sure you do not go overboard on your sauces and toppings and you will have a low calorie dinner.

How many calories are in gluten free pizza?

Again, this depends on your toppings and what kind of crust you are using. My pizzas are typically anywhere from 600-800 calories for the entire thing!

So. much. pizza! I hope these 16 healthy pizza recipes give you an idea of something you can make this week to change up your regular routine! Healthy doesn’t have to be boring, especially dinner. If you have the time there is no need to prep your food and eat out of containers, but there is also no need to order out every night. Plan ahead enough, grab a recipe and start cooking! Anything you cook at home is going to be better than a restaurant because you know EXACTLY what is going into your food.
